Nihon Star – Japanese Talent Competition 2021

Introduction This talent show is an event in which participants perform any activities to showcase their skills and also will provide an excellent Japanese cultural platform for participants to identify their hidden talents. Objectives of the competition To showcase the rich Japanese culture through the performances of diverse talents from categories related to Japan. To build a strong community of Sri Lankan youth who appreciate Japanese language & culture. To create a platform for youth to showcase their diverse talents, related to Japan. About the Competition The Japanese talent competition is organized by LNBTI, the premier Japanese quality higher education provider, for the youth who are exposed to Japanese language and culture to showcase a variety of unique talents which are relevant to Japan. Following are the categories: Performing Arts Category Singing – Japanese song Dancing – Japanese style / dancing to a Japanese song Speech in Japanese (On any topic) Cosplay – With an introduction to the chosen character, followed by an act pertaining to that character.  Rakugo – Comic story telling with facial expressions (Humor) Fine Arts Category Calligraphy – writing their favorite kanji character in calligraphy Making unique origami designs Ikebana – Art of Japanese flower arrangement (using only natural materials) Haiku poem writing – On Japanese seasons Kyara ben – making creative lunchboxes (using only edible material and displaying the character/s clearly) Creative writing in Japanese The Participants This competition will be open for youth between ages of 15 -25 years. Each winner will receive a valuable certificate. All competitors will also receive a valuable certificate of their participation. The first round Due to popular demand, the video submission deadline of performing arts category has been extended till 17th of April 2021 The candidates competing in the “Performing Arts” category set, should upload the first competitive performance videos onto their own google drive and share the link of video via LNBTI website by 17th April 2021. (access for the video should be given to “nihonstar@edu.lnbti.lk” email address) The candidates competing in the “Fine Arts” category set, should perform live from 19th April 2021 at the time allocated (event time and Zoom link will be shared via email and WhatsApp). Rules & regulations of the programme The candidate/s can select any category from either performing arts or fine arts categories. The candidate/s who are competing in the “Performing Arts” category set, should video record the performance item clearly to show authenticity. The candidate/s who are competing in the “Fine Arts” Category set, should perform live at the allocated time.  Application could be filled either as a solo item or as a group.  The duration of the performance in the video of candidates competing in the “Performing Arts” category set should not exceed 5 mins.  Candidates competing in the “Fine Arts” category Set, should not exceed more than 15 mins in their live performances. LNBTI Team Won the First Place in Port City Colombo Ideathon

Port City Colombo YouthSpeak Forum 2021 was organized by AIESEC in Sri Lanka with Port City Colombo. The main objective of this event was to give a place for Sri Lankan youth to express their ideas and educate themselves on Sustainable Development.  As an internal event linked to the Port City Colombo YouthSpeak Forum the Port City Colombo Ideathon was held. Through the Ideathon the Sri Lankan youth aged 16 to 30 were given the opportunity to pitch their breakthrough ideas. The Ideathon was based on three main categories; Urban Development & Green Cities, Technological Advancements & Smart Cities, and Urban Livelihood & Social Well Being. Both individual and team applicants were encouraged to participate. From LNBTI, two teams of students participated in the event under the category Technological Advancements & Smart Cities. Through the participation, they gained considerable knowledge on Sustainable Development and different technological models related to the smart city concept. Further to that, they went through crash courses in technical writing, research, and presentation as part of the work they did for the Ideathon. Further to that they also got the chance to take part in knowledge sessions organized by AIESEC Sri Lanka. It is with great delight we announce that one of the LNBTI teams placed FIRST in the top three finalists at the Port City Colombo Ideathon! The teams consisted of Sadeeka Tharushi and Mishen Dilruk Perera from Batch 05. LNBTI would like to give them our heartiest congratulations!

The 1st Asia & Pacific Island-Culture Exchange Program for the Youth 2021

The 1st Asia & Pacific Island-Culture Exchange Program for the Youth is successfully held on 13th March 2021 via on zoom which is organized by Prof. Ananda Kumara, Meijo University & Prof. Uchida, Meisei University. The main objective of the program is to develop the island friendship among three nations and create mutual understanding among their cultures. The programme consists of an introduction to the islands and presentations of traditional music/dance performances with brief explanations in English & Japanese languages. This platform provided an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan students to take part in this event to gain experience and confidence in working with other nations. This will no doubt strengthen the relationship among the three countries. At the forum Royal College & Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo, represented Sri Lanka, while Kikai Sr. Highschool, Wan Elementary School represented Japan and College of the Marshall Islands & Assumption school represented Marshal Island. The (JAGCE) International Conference 2021

The (JAGCE) International Conference will be held on the 6th of March 2021, where ten (10) students and teachers from five schools will be making presentations & showcasing videos on important aspects of Sri Lanka such as culture, food, nature, tourist attractions, people, lifestyle, sports & education system The (JAGCE) International Conference was held on the 6th of March 2021, where ten (10) Sri Lankan students and teachers from five schools did presentations. This platform created an excellent opportunity for students who have enrolled to present their research in this international conference where they could showcase our own Sri Lankan identity, culture & beliefs and also to connect with the wider world. It promoted cultural awareness and respectful interactions in an increasingly diverse world. Students could meet fellow students from many participating countries and also could meet many leaders from diverse industries.
