Event Highlights & Outcomes - JASPER 2025
The Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI) proudly hosted the JASPER 2025 Research Symposium, a landmark event that successfully concluded on 26th September 2025. The symposium served as a vibrant platform for academic collaboration and research exchange between Japan and Sri Lanka, reflecting LNBTI’s vision of integrating Japanese excellence with Sri Lankan innovation.
The event was graced by the Keynote Address from Prof. Kazuaki Tanaka of the Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan, on “From Scripts to Circuits: IoT Applications with mruby/C.” His session offered deep insights into embedded systems and IoT innovations, inspiring participants to bridge theory and practice through research.
Distinguished invited speakers : Prof. Eri Ota (University of Science Tokyo), Prof. Yuri Sadoi (Meijo University), and Prof. Tomio Uchida (Meisei University) shared their expertise on global education, innovation, and international collaboration, providing valuable perspectives that enriched the discussions.
In preparation for the symposium, pre-conference workshops were held on 25th September 2025:
Microcontrollers by Prof. Kazuaki Tanaka, focusing on practical applications and real-world implementations.
Leveraging AI for IT Undergraduates by Prof. Hiran Amarasekera from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, exploring the use of Artificial Intelligence for academic and professional development.

The symposium highlighted an impressive range of student and faculty research, including projects in artificial intelligence, digital transformation, IoT, education technology, and cross-cultural studies. Each presentation reflected LNBTI’s commitment to nurturing research-driven education and developing globally competent graduates prepared for Japan’s technology-driven workforce.
JASPER 2025 stands as a significant milestone for LNBTI showcasing its academic excellence, research leadership, and dedication to fostering Sri Lanka–Japan educational partnerships. The event’s success is a result of the tireless efforts of the organizing committee, faculty members, reviewers, and enthusiastic student participants whose contributions made the symposium truly remarkable.

Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan
Prof. Kazuaki Tanaka is a distinguished academic specializing in advanced computing and artificial intelligence. With decades of experience in research and teaching, he has contributed extensively to the fields of smart systems and sustainable technology. His leadership in international collaborations has fostered impactful research between Japan and South Asia. At JASPER 2025, he will deliver the keynote address, sharing his vision for innovation-driven education and research.
Institute of Science, Tokyo, Japan
Prof. Eri Ota is a leading researcher in data-driven science and interdisciplinary applications. She has guided numerous research projects that bridge computing, science, and society, and her publications are widely recognized in the Japanese research community. Her invited talk will highlight emerging trends in interdisciplinary research, focusing on how global collaboration can drive knowledge-sharing and problem-solving across borders.
Meisei University, Japan
Prof. Tomio Uchida is an expert in engineering education, embedded systems, and IoT applications. His work emphasizes connecting theoretical knowledge with real-world problem-solving, making him a respected educator and innovator. Over his career, he has mentored many students who have advanced into leading technology fields. At JASPER 2025, he will explore how higher education can prepare future engineers to meet industry challenges.
Meijo University, Japan
Prof. Yuri Sadoi specializes in economics, management, and global innovation systems. She has a strong background in academic–industry partnerships and has worked with institutions across Asia and Europe. Her research focuses on knowledge transfer, human capital development, and sustainable growth. At JASPER 2025, she will discuss how universities can foster resilient, globally connected research cultures.
