Opportunities in Higher Education and Professional Careers in Japan for Sri Lankan Students.

Sri Lanka’s premier higher education IT institute, LNBTI (Lanka Nippon Biz Tech Institute) recently concluded a successful webinar on the opportunities and possibilities for growth in the areas of Career Development and Higher Education in Japan’s burgeoning IT industry. With over 180 participating Administrators and Teachers from prominent schools and educational institutions joining the session, the webinar was both insightful and thought provoking, touching on the ways a country such as Japan would benefit students and professionals of a hard working caliber, such as those from our very own nation. A panel of distinguished speakers from Mr. Sanjiv Gunasekara – H.E. the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan, Mr.Mizukoshi Hideaki – H.E. the Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr.Masatomo Itonaga – Resident Representative JETRO – Colombo office, Mr.Keishi Takebe – Senior Executive Director – Japan Embedded System Technology Association (JASA), and several Japanese industry representatives, ensured that all participants were part of an interactive and engaging session that provided a deep understanding on the opportunities that present-day Japan could create for Sri Lankan students. The Budo Sri Lanka (Budo Culture Research and Training Institute) and LNBTI had a great opportunity to observe how the Japanese school system performs and their way of teaching at the Japanese school in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

LNBTI 5S Challenge

The 5S methodology is derived from five Japanese terms beginning with the letter “S”. 5S methodologies will help to arrange a clean, uncluttered, safe, and well-organized environment in the workplace. This can enhance the productivity of our day-to-day activities and make them smoother and pleasanter. By following the 5S methodology, the qualities such as organization and self-discipline will be gradually built into our routines which would contribute to personality development. Therefore, it is important for all youngsters and adults alike to be aware of and follow such a valuable methodology Seiri (Sort): To separate needed stuff from unneeded stuff and to remove the unneeded ones. Seiton (Set in Order): To neatly arrange and identify parts and tools for ease of use. Seiso (Shine): To conduct a cleanup campaign. Seiketsu (Standardize): To conduct seiri, seiton, and seiso continuously to maintain a workplace in perfect condition. Shitsuke (Sustain): To form the habit of always following the first four S’s. LNBTI “5S Challenge” Programme 5S Challenge is a program to create awareness and motivate society to arrange a quality environment, physically and mentally in order to improve the productivity of our daily routines through the 5S concept. Objectives of the LNBTI 5S Challenge: Improve productivity of the society by motivating to eliminate waste. Promote a sense of pride in maintaining orderliness at home and workspace. Encouraging participants to develop a stress-free environment at home and at the workplace. Appreciate the effort put into following the 5S concept. About the Challenge Contestants have to implement the 5S methodology to a place of their choice and share the details of their effort with us. They have to present how they have applied 5S through a video. Rules and Regulations of the 5S Challenge 1. Candidate/s can select one from either school or public categories. 2. Candidate/s can participate in any number of challenges under individual or group categories. 3. Age limit of the candidates competing under the school category should be 6 – 18 yrs. 4. Candidates can apply under public or school categories and each category is divided as an individual and group. (Details of all group members should be provided.) Following are the subcategories that candidates can select: 5. Candidate/s have to submit one (1) minute video for any of the categories above. 6. The following points should be included in the video: The appearance of before and after applying 5S The problems before applying 5S Challenges faced while applying 5S Improvements after applying 5S To whom the challenge is passed next. (eg: “I want to challenge the friends of my school also to apply 5S to their classrooms/computer lab/library.” ) 7. Description of the video can be included as text or voice in Sinhala or English language. Refer to this sample video to study how to prepare the content of the video: 8. Contesters can increase the number of views and likes for their video by sharing their video through social media and passing the challenge to many people. 14. Selection of winners: Best and the most popular videos will be selected. Winners and participants will be received valuable certificates. The best videos will be selected by the judging panel. LNBTI 5S Challenge

5S ක්‍රමවේදය: 5S ක්‍රමවේදය ව්‍යුත්පන්න වී ඇත්තේ “S” අකුරින් ආරම්භ වන ජපන් පද පහකින් ය. 5S ක්‍රමවේදයන් අනුගමනය කිරීමෙන් අප අවට පරිසරය ඉතා පිලිවෙලට, පිරිසිදුව සහ ආරක්ෂිතව සකසා ගැනීමට මග පෑදෙයි. එමඟින් අපගේ එදිනෙදා ක්‍රියාකාරකම්වල ඵලදායිතාව ඉහළ නංවා ගත හැකි අතර, කටයුතු පහසුවෙන් සහ සතුටින් ඉටුකිරීමට ද අවස්ථාව ලැබේ. 5S ක්‍රමවේදයන් අනුගමනය කිරීම මගින් සංවිධානාත්මක බව සහ ස්වයං විනය යන ගුණාංග අපගේ ජීවිතය තුළ ස්වභාවයෙන්ම ගොඩ නැගෙන අතර එය අපගේ පෞරුෂ වර්ධනයට ද මහත් රුකුලක් වේ. එනිසා එවන් වටිනා ක්‍රමවේදයක් පිළිබඳව දැනුවත් වීම සහ අනුගමනය කිරීම ළමා සහ වැඩිහිටි සැමදෙනාටම එක ලෙස වැදගත් වේ. Seiri (සංස්කරණය): අවශ්‍ය ද්‍රව්‍ය, අනවශ්‍ය ද්‍රව්‍ය වලින් වෙන් කිරීම සහ අනවශ්‍ය ද්‍රව්‍ය ඉවත් කිරීම. Seiton (සුපිළිවෙල): භාවිතයේ පහසුව සඳහා උපාංග පිළිවෙලට සකස් කිරීම සහ හඳුනා ගැනීම. Seiso (සුපිරිසිදු): පිරිසිදු කිරීම. Seiketsu (සම්මත): අප අවට පරිසරය පරිපූර්ණ තත්ත්වයෙන් පවත්වා ගැනීම සඳහා seiri, seiton සහ seiso ක්‍රියාවලිය නොකඩවා අනුගමනය කිරීම. Shitsuke (සංවරය): සෑම විටම පළමු S හතර අනුගමනය කිරීමේ පුරුද්ද හා විනය ඇති කර ගැනීම. LNBTI 5S Challenge වැඩසටහන LNBTI 5S Challenge යනු, ජීවිතයේ ගුණාත්මකභාවය  සහ ක්‍රියාකාරකම් වල ඵලදායිතාව වැඩිදියුණු කිරීම සඳහා “5S සංකල්පය” යොදා ගැනීමට ඇති හැකියාව පිළිබඳව සමාජය දැනුවත් කිරීමේ සහ උත්ප්‍රේරණය කිරීමේ වැඩසටහනකි. LNBTI 5S Challenge වැඩ සටහනේ අරමුණු 5S සංකල්පය සහ එය  අනුගමනය කිරීමෙන් ඇති ප්‍රයෝජන පිළිබඳව සමාජය දැනුවත් කිරීම. ජනතාවට 5S සංකල්පය අනුගමනය කිරීමට හුරු කිරීම සහ දිරිමත් කිරීම. 5S සංකල්පය තුළින් ජනතාවගේ පෞරුෂ සංවර්ධනය සහ ඵලදායිතාව ඉහළ නැංවීමට සඳහා අඩිතාලමක් දැමීම. 5S සංකල්පය අනුගමනය කිරීම සඳහා යොදන පරිශ්‍රමය අගය කිරීම. LNBTI 5S Challenge ගැන අයදුම්කරුවන්ට ඔවුන්ගේ අභිමතය පරිදි ඕනෑම පරිසරයකට 5S ක්‍රමවේදය ක්‍රියාත්මක කර එම ව්‍යාපෘතියේ විස්තර, සහ අත්දැකීම් වීඩියෝවක් ඔස්සේ අප වෙත ඉදිරිපත් කළ යුතුය. Christmas and Year-end Celebrations 2021

The Christmas and New year celebration of the LNBTI Institute was held on 31st December 2021 via online mode. The academic staff and students of the institute were participated in the celebration and it was coloured up with different segments.

2021 A/L Japanese Language Revision Session with Sensei Anju Hewage powered by LNBTI was a great success!

It’s with great pleasure to declare that the 2021 A/L Japanese Language Revision Session which was powered by LNBTI for the 2nd consecutive year with Sensei Anju Hewage was a Great Success and was held on 21st December 2021 from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm via zoom along with more than 300 active participation of the students who are supposed to sit for their A/Ls this time. The main objective of this webinar was to develop the students’ Japanese Language knowledge and prepare them for the A/L examination. The webinar was consisted of the Questions in Japanese Essays, sample MCQs & Japanese Culture areas along with effective tips and tactics. Such that, through the Zoom session, they became aware of “How to answer A/L Japanese Language paper effectively” considering the time allocated. All participants appreciated LNBTI for conducting these interactive webinar series consecutively, on this value-added session with one of the most experienced resource persons under Japanese Language major. Being a Japanese-based IT higher education institute, our intention is to educate and develop the youth to become resourceful IT professionals who could join the IT industry in Sri Lanka, Japan, or Worldwide. 2021 A/L Physics Revision Session with Prof. Balo Daya powered by LNBTI was a great success!

It’s with great pleasure to declare that the 2021 A/L Physics Revision Session which was powered by LNBTI for the 2nd consecutive year with Prof Balo Daya was a Great Success and was held on 14th December 2021 by 3.00pm to 6.30pm via zoom along with the active participation of the students who are supposed to sit for their A/Ls this time. The main objective of this webinar was to develop the students’ physics knowledge and prepare them for the A/L examination. The webinar has consisted of a Physics major theory concept and discussed the sample MCQ questions along with the effective tips and tactics. Such that, through the Zoom session, they became aware of “How to answer A/L physics MCQs effectively” considering the time allocated.   This program also assisted the participants to understand both theories and practical usages so, a special thanks go to the 580 registered students who kept trust on LNBTI and we believe they gained a maximum out of it.   All participants appreciated LNBTI for conducting these interactive webinar series consecutively, on this value-added session with one of the most experienced resource persons under Physics major. Being a Japanese-based IT higher education institute, our intention is to educate and develop the youth to become resourceful IT professionals who could join the IT industry in Sri Lanka, Japan, or Worldwide.

The Aki Saki evening

The Aki Saki Japanese Talent show of LNBTI was organized by the LNBTI students ( UoG batch 02) was successfully held on 6th December 2021. This wonderful evening decorated with rich Japanese culture through the performances of their diverse talents. The programme conducted via online with the participation of Mr. Koga michio (Chairman of the LNBTI) Prof. Ananda Kumara, representatives and academics from Japan. Every participant at the event was able to experience an unforgettable and joyous evening with Japanese cultural experiences. 

Guest Lecture on “Desired ICT engineers in the Japanese DX age” by Mr.Unozawa

The guest lecture on Desired ICT engineers in the Japanese DX age was conducted by Japanese ICT expert Mr.Unozawa, with the invitation of the Chairman of LNBTI, Mr. Koga Michio on 11th November 2021 via Zoom for the undergraduates of LNBTI.  Mr.Unozawa is a Consultant on BPM, RPA & DX to private companies and the Japanese Government. Most significantly, he was the Executive Vice President of Novell Inc Japan which provided basic network infrastructure to the whole world until the emergence of the Internet. His lecture included important topics such as a general view of the Japanese ICT industry from the beginning, the current movement of DX, industry 4.0, and society 5.0, and desirable factors for ICT engineers in Japan. Students were able to gain sound knowledge about how the ICT industry-related technology developments took place in Japan, especially focusing on how it took place with their own concepts and ideas and as well as in the global context. At the end of the event, there was a QA session that provided a solid platform for students to enhance their knowledge. LNBTI is looking forward to organizing more such educational and knowledge development events with renowned personnel in the ICT field, which will facilitate students to acquire more knowledge with regard to the Japanese ICT industry.
