The Summer Program between Tokyo Tech, Japan & LNBTI, Sri Lanka will be held on 8th & 9th September 2021 30 Students from LNBTI will be participating in this special event. Further, they are supposed to work on various activities to understand the differences between Cultures. FREE IoT SEMINAR FOR ALL A/L ICT STUDENTS & TEACHERS
A Free IoT Seminar for all A/L ICT Students & Teachers was successfully held on last 8th September at 8.30am via Zoom Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI), a premier ICT-based higher education institute in Sri Lanka organized an IoT webinar on 8th September upon the request by many advanced level ICT teachers for the benefit of students sitting for A/L exam this year, 2021. The content covered in the session was focused on specific learning outcomes of year thirteen syllabus area related to IoT. A Joint (on-line) Session on “Foundation of Leadership among Georgia Tech, USA, Oversea Training for Global Scientists & Engineers (Tokyo Tech) & LNBTI – Sri Lanka” will be held on 31st August as a Briefing Session & on 14th September 2021 as a Discussion Session. Objectives: To be able to understand ways of communication-based on different cultures To reflect on your group work for better team-building with people with diverse cultures Participants Around 30-35 students from Georgia Tech (GT), Tokyo Tech (TT), Lanka Nippon Biztech Institute (LI) & Chulalongkorn University (CU) Schedule and Meeting Account Briefing session: Date: Tuesday, the 31st of August 2021 Time: 5:30-7:30 am Sri Lanka Time Discussion Session Date: Tuesday, the 14th of September 2021 Time: 5:30-7:30 am Sri Lanka Time Activities During the introduction session, students will work in discussion groups on Education and career path in the US, Japan, and Thailand using Miro, the on-line whiteboard, followed by a brief overview of the “Culture Map” activity on the final session. Participants are requested to conduct a “Culture Map Survey” and bring the result to the discussion session During the final session, students will work in discussion groups understanding different ways of proceeding the group work such as 1) communicating, 2) Leading, 3) Deciding, 4) Disagreeing, 5) Scheduling and so forth based on your previous experiences, and result of “Culture Map Survey”. Specific activities for the final session are as follows: Group Work under Different Cultures Discuss in a team: How can your cultural diversity be an advantage to the group Individual: Map Personal | Culture on Eight Scales Team: Map Personal to Team Members Note where they cluster (similarities) and where there might be some differences Discuss the following; Do you think these scales are impacting your team’s collaboration? What can you do to be more effective, given these differences (fault lines)? 5. Through discussion with people with diverse background/thoughts, students will reflect on their learning on New perspectives about their education/career paths and Different ways of communication style as a next action step. Assignment Students are requested to submit an essay including the following content: What are some new insights on educational/career paths that you learned from your group members? What are some pros and cons of working in multicultural team? Identify what works and does not work in multi-cultural teams, along with how to handle common dysfunctions within a team

The 2nd Asia & Pacific Island-Culture Exchange Program Beyond Oceans & Seas for the Youth 2021
The 2nd Asia & Pacific Island-Culture Exchange Program “Beyond Oceans & Seas” with the students of Kikaijima Island- Japan & Sri Lanka was successfully held on 31st July 2021 via on zoom which was organized by Prof. Ananda Kumara, the Former Dean of Faculty of Foreign Studies | Meijo University, Japan & Prof. Uchida, Meisei University, Japan. The main objective of this program was to develop the island’s friendship among the two nations and create mutual understanding among their cultures. The program has consisted of an introduction to the islands and presentations of “The new age of local area & society under Nature, Culture & Future” with brief explanations in English & Japanese languages. The youth from two Asian island countries Sri Lanka and Kikaijima Island in Japan were able to interact with each other and perform their unique cultural activities to enhance each of their country and city values under the following given topics: Topic 01: Living together, nature, and a happy life Topic 02: How “Local Culture” can be maintained for the future and how to create a new culture Topic 03: what and how we can contribute to making the society sustainable It was a great honor for Sri Lanka, as Sri Lankan students were speaking fluently in Japanese with the fellow Japanese Students and that was literally a proud moment for Sri Lanka! Such that, through the Zoom session, they became aware of the diversity and attractiveness of local areas in Asia discussed together with the regional development from global and local perspectives. This program also assisted the participants to deepen their international understanding through direct interaction with each other. This platform provided an excellent opportunity for Sri Lankan students to take part in this event to gain experience and confidence in working with other nations. This was no doubt strengthened the relationship between the two countries. At the forum, Sangamitta College, Sujatha Balika Vidyalaya, Galle & Ferguson High School, Rathnapura represented Sri Lanka, while Kagoshima Kikai High School, represented Japan.
