LNBTI Workshop with JICA on Sri Lanka-Japan Ties
On December 6th, 2023, LNBTI had the privilege of hosting a workshop conducted by two volunteers and a representative from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance the cultural relationship between Sri Lanka and Japan. The delegations engaged LNBTI students in a comprehensive workshop and discussion, shedding light on the vast opportunities within the Japanese IT industry for our students. This unique interaction not only increased our students’ desire to pursue careers in Japan but also garnered positive feedback from Japanese industry experts about their skills and cultural understanding.
Career Development Program at Bomiriya Central College, Kaduwela
On the 30th of November, 2023, LNBTI Japanese IT University orchestrated a comprehensive Career Development Program at Bomiriya Central College, Kaduwela. This initiative aimed to guide students preparing for their A/L examinations, offering them insights into potential pathways for higher education. The event unfolded as an enlightening session where students eagerly explored the opportunities awaiting them, with a particular focus on the prospects in Japan. The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as the students actively sought to identify the best course for their future growth. The success of the career development program was underscored by the presence of distinguished guests, including Prof Ananda Kumara, the Vice Chancellor of LNBTI, and Mr. Ikura Kazuyuki, the Director of LNBTI. Their participation added gravitas to the occasion, emphasizing LNBTI’s commitment to guiding the next generation towards a promising career as it facilitates professional IT jobs in Japan upon the completion of degrees after O/Ls and A/Ls. LNBTI visits the Schools around Nugegoda
On the 29th of November 2023, LNBTI Japanese IT University embarked on a significant outreach initiative, visiting schools in the Nugegoda area to engage with IT and Japanese teachers, as well as school principals. The purpose of these visits was to initiate conversations about the opportunities awaiting school students seeking higher education paths after their A/L examinations. The LNBTI team visited few prominent schools around Nugegoda such as: Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda – where they had the honor of meeting the new principal, Mrs. Ayirangani, St Joseph’s Girls’ College – interactions took place with IT teachers, Mahamaya Girls’ College – meeting the principal Mrs. Anula and the Vice Principal Mrs. Preethi The impact of these school visits was profound, with educators expressing their admiration upon learning that LNBTI facilitates professional IT jobs in Japan upon the completion of IT degrees, specifically tailored for students joining after A/Ls. The discussions held during these visits were not only enlightening but also paved the way for future collaborations. As a follow-up initiative, plans were set in motion to organize career days, creating platforms for students to explore and envision promising career pathways. On the 28th of November, 2023, LNBTI Japanese IT University conducted a transformative IoT workshop for A/L students in the Panadura zone, hosted at Panadura Balika Vidyalaya. This workshop served as a valuable resource for students preparing for their A/L examinations, particularly those specializing in IT. Mr. Chandana Deshapriya, a Senior IT lecturer from LNBTI, spearheaded the seminar, combining theoretical insights with practical applications. The session not only equipped students with an in-depth understanding of the Internet of Things (IoT) but also provided hands-on experience with Arduino boards—a rare opportunity for students to engage with these tools directly in the context of IoT. Toshiyuki Sadoi Sensei, who holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University (St. Louis, USA), brings a wealth of experience, having served as a Former Lecturer of Japanese/Engineering at prestigious institutions like the University of Mandalay, Mandalay Technological University, Myanmar Institute of Information Technology, and University of Computer Studies (Mandalay). His expertise in lecturing to international students, particularly as a Former Japanese Lecturer for Myanmar students at Mandalay Technological University, further enriches the academic landscape at LNBTI. LNBTI, the Japanese IT University, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of its new City campus located in the heart of Maharagama, housed within the prestigious Sathara building. The Grand Opening ceremony was led by LNBTI Chairman, Mr. Koga Michio, alongside key directors representing both Japanese and Sri Lankan directors. This strategic move reflects LNBTI’s commitment to providing an enriched educational experience for its students by offering a conveniently situated space for lectures and academic activities. The City campus not only symbolizes the institution’s expansion but also underscores its dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment. The establishment of the City campus in Maharagama ensures easy accessibility for both students and parents, facilitating seamless visits to the campus. LNBTI Cricket Fest 2023: Elevating Sportsmanship to New Heights
LNBTI, the Japanese IT University, triumphantly hosted its annual cricket tournament on November 25th, Saturday, starting at 8:00 AM at the National Institute of Education Stadium in Maharagama. This spirited event, meticulously organized by the Student Activity Club of LNBTI with the support of Media Club, brought together students, faculty, and staff for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie. The collaborative efforts of the organizing committees ensured the seamless execution of the tournament, showcasing the collective dedication and teamwork of LNBTI’s vibrant community. With enthusiastic participation from 10 teams, the tournament culminated in a thrilling victory for “Team Dragon Fighters”, with “Team Headquarters” securing the first runners-up position. The success of this event was not only a testament to the cricket skills on display but also highlighted the unwavering support and active involvement of students and staff. The day concluded with a lively DJ session, making it a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved.
