Student Counselling at LNBTI

Supporting Students Beyond Academics

At LNBTI, we believe that true education goes beyond classrooms and textbooks. For students to thrive academically and professionally, they must also feel mentally strong, emotionally supported, and personally empowered. Recognizing this, we have established a dedicated Student Counselling Unit (SCU) under the purview of the Academic Syndicate, ensuring that every student has access to guidance, support, and care throughout their academic journey.

Our Counselling Service provides primary, secondary, and tertiary-level interventions designed to:

  • Promote and maintain mental health and wellbeing
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Empower students to achieve their personal, academic, and career goals

Why Counselling Matters

academic performance and personal growth. At LNBTI, counseling is not just a service it is a lifeline that helps students:

  • Manage mental health and life concerns
  • Overcome academic and learning challenges
  • Navigate career decisions and uncertainty
  • Improve communication and relationships with staff and peers

By addressing these needs proactively, we help reduce student dropout rates, foster resilience, and ensure every student stays on track toward success.

Our Commitment to Student Wellbeing

The staff and faculty at LNBTI are deeply committed to valuing diversity and respecting all identities including race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and disability. Students are encouraged to discuss personal, psychological, social, or financial concerns in a safe, private, and confidential setting with our professional counselor, free of charge.

Through the LNBTI LMS, general information and resources on counseling are also made available, ensuring that students are continuously supported, both in person and online.

Professional Guidance and Personalized Support

LNBTI has appointed a full-time professional counselor, Ms. Kushani Ranwala, who is both academically and professionally qualified. She:

  • Meets regularly with all student batches
  • Offers one-on-one appointments for personalized guidance
  • Maintains confidentiality and a dedicated space to protect student privacy
  • Engages with parents and academic staff, when necessary, to resolve critical issues

We also proactively monitor student attendance and wellbeing. If a student is absent for more than a week without notice, the administration immediately informs the counselor, ensuring early intervention. This has significantly helped reduce student dropouts and strengthened our culture of care.

Additionally, mentoring feedback is collected and discussed at department and board of study meetings, ensuring continuous improvement of the counselling process.

A Holistic Approach to Student Success

At LNBTI, counseling is not an afterthought it is an integral part of our education model. By combining academic mentoring, personal guidance, and professional counseling, we ensure that every student feels supported, valued, and prepared to face challenges with confidence.

Because when students feel cared for, they don’t just graduate they thrive.
