Vice Chancellor Professor Ananda Kumara Highlights Asia’s Rising Role in Global Talent Development at International Conference

On July 19th, Vice Chancellor Professor Ananda Kumara delivered the Opening Address at the Hokkaido Conference of the Japan Association for Global Competence Education, held under the theme “Developing Global Talent in the New Information Era.”Addressing a Japanese audience, Professor Kumara underscored Asia’s increasing prominence as a center for innovation and opportunity in a rapidly evolving global landscape.He spoke about the shifting dynamics of global education, noting how traditional destinations such as the United States are facing mounting restrictions. Rather than viewing these developments as setbacks, he urged attendees to see them as an opportunity to tap into Asia’s vast and growing potential.Highlighting the Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI) as the first Japan-affiliated IT university in South Asia, Professor Kumara shared its mission: to produce graduates proficient in both advanced IT skills and the Japanese language and culture. These students, he said, represent a new generation of globally minded professionals prepared to succeed across borders.In closing, he called on educators and industry leaders to work together to harness the power of information technology and the energy of Asia’s youth.“Together,” he emphasized, “we can create new pathways for global success.”Professor Kumara also expressed his appreciation to the conference organizers, including Professor Fukuzawa and Professor Takeuchi, for their dedication to advancing global education.
