Vice Chancellor Participates in Follow-up Session in Nagoya for JICA-JOCV Sri Lanka Study Tour

On July 19 , Professor Ananda Kumara, Vice Chancellor of the Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI), participated online in a follow-up session for the JICA-JOCV Sri Lanka Study Tour. The session was organized by the Aichi Support Organization and held at the JICA Chubu Center in Nagoya, Japan.

The study tour marked the 60th anniversary of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JICA-JOCV) program and brought together 17 participants from Japan. The itinerary for the tour was developed under the guidance of Professor Kumara during his visit to Japan in May 2025. Notably, he also played a key role in a similar initiative a decade ago for the 50th anniversary, during which he accompanied over 30 Japanese participants to Sri Lanka.

This year’s program included visits to the Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka, JICA Sri Lanka, and several project sites, offering participants valuable insights into the country’s volunteer initiatives. A major highlight of the tour was a series of six group workshops held at LNBTI, where Japanese participants engaged in meaningful discussions with local students.

During the follow-up meeting, participants reflected on their experiences and expressed how inspired they were by the enthusiasm, commitment, and aspirations of LNBTI students. Many agreed that the workshops were among the most memorable and impactful moments of the tour. Several participants also expressed their willingness to continue supporting LNBTI in future initiatives.

Professor Kumara extended his heartfelt gratitude for the successful collaboration and requested continued support for LNBTI graduates as they prepare for careers in Japanese companies.

In addition to his current role, Professor Kumara previously served as Deputy Vice Chancellor of Suzuka International University in Japan. He also made history by becoming the first and only foreigner to serve as President of the Mie Chapter of the JICA-JOCV Support Organization.
