On the 29th of June, 2023, LNBTI – Japanese IT University in Sri Lanka had the honor of hosting a visit from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). As an organization focusing on promoting quality growth, development cooperation for inclusive growth, and mitigating vulnerability in Sri Lanka, JICA explored avenues to facilitate IT job opportunities in Japan for LNBTI students. The visit was attended by prominent representatives from JICA, including Mr. Yamada Tetsuya, the Chief Representative, Ms. Ide Yuri, the Senior Representative, and Ms. Miyake Yukako, the Project Formulation Advisor. LNBTI was represented by Professor Ananda Kumara, the Vice Chancellor, as well as the Directors, Mr. Ravindra Perera and Mr. Dilshan, and other key personnel.
The primary focus of JICA’s visit to LNBTI was to discuss how JICA could assist in facilitating IT job placements in Japan for LNBTI students. LNBTI highlighted the opportunities available to its students, specifically in securing IT job positions in Japan after completing their IT honors degree. LNBTI emphasized its strong connections with the Japanese IT industry, which opens doors for LNBTI graduates to secure coveted employment opportunities in Japan. This collaboration between LNBTI and JICA would not only benefit the students but also contribute to the overall growth and development of Sri Lanka’s IT sector
The representatives from JICA actively engaged in discussions with LNBTI, aiming to understand the institution’s vision, programs, and the specific needs of LNBTI graduates seeking job opportunities in Japan. The dialogue centered around exploring ways in which JICA could support LNBTI in providing the necessary resources, networks, and assistance to connect LNBTI graduates with potential employers in Japan. Both parties shared valuable insights and expertise, fostering a collaborative atmosphere for the betterment of LNBTI students.
JICA’s visit to LNBTI aligned with its commitment to promoting quality growth, one of its key priority areas in Sri Lanka. JICA aims to facilitate sustainable development by providing technical assistance, knowledge transfer, and capacity building initiatives. By exploring avenues to assist LNBTI graduates in securing IT jobs in Japan, JICA showcased its dedication to fostering international cooperation and supporting the growth of Sri Lanka’s IT industry.
