During a recent official visit to Japan, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ananda Kumara and Director Mr. Saman Kumara visited the University of Aizu, one of LNBTI’s valued partner universities in Japan. Their visit also marked a proud moment for LNBTI as they attended the graduation ceremony of another outstanding LNBTI graduate, Ms. Harshani Cooray.
The University of Aizu, located in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima Prefecture, is a prestigious public university in Japan specializing in computer science and engineering. Established in 1993, it is recognized as Japan’s first university dedicated exclusively to computer science and engineering, with a strong focus on advanced IT education, research, innovation, and global engagement.
Several talented LNBTI graduates have continued their higher studies at the University of Aizu, further strengthening the academic and professional link between LNBTI and Japan. The university is well known for its high standards in IT education and research, making it an excellent destination for students who aspire to build successful careers in Japan’s technology sector.
This year, Ms. Harshani Cooray, a former LNBTI graduate who entered the University of Aizu as a transfer student, successfully completed her Master of Engineering degree in Information Technology. Her academic performance has been highly impressive, and she achieved outstanding results during her studies. According to her professors, Harshani was recognized as a top-quality graduate, reflecting her dedication, discipline, and strong academic ability.
Adding further pride to her achievement, Harshani has already secured employment with a reputed IT company in Japan and is scheduled to begin her professional career from 1 April 2026.
Her success is not limited to academic excellence alone. During her time in Japan, Harshani has also gained a deeper understanding of Japanese culture, professional values, and workplace expectations. The professors who guided her during her studies were pleased to see her confidence, maturity, and cultural appreciation, especially as she appeared in traditional Japanese attire during the graduation occasion.
At present, two more former LNBTI graduates are pursuing their studies at the University of Aizu. LNBTI is proud to support these energetic and talented young graduates as they move forward towards stable and rewarding careers in Japan.
This achievement reflects the strength of LNBTI’s total educational package: IT education, Japanese language training, cultural understanding, professional development, and career pathways to Japan. Looking ahead, LNBTI hopes to further strengthen its graduate network in Japan and use these professional connections to contribute to the future development of Sri Lanka’s IT industry as well.
LNBTI warmly congratulates Ms. Harshani Cooray on this remarkable achievement and wishes her continued success in her professional journey in Japan.
