During his recent official visit to Japan, Prof. Ananda Kumara, Vice Chancellor of LNBTI, participated in a highly valuable discussion session with the senior representatives of Kawamura Electric Inc. in Nagoya, Japan.
Kawamura Electric Inc., headquartered in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, is a long-established Japanese company engaged in the manufacturing and sales of industrial and consumer electrical equipment. Founded in 1919, the company has built a strong reputation in Japan’s electrical and electronics manufacturing sector, with its Head Office and Plant located in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture.
LNBTI has already developed a strong and meaningful relationship with Kawamura Electric Inc. through an initial formal agreement to provide internship training opportunities for LNBTI students. As part of this collaboration, four LNBTI students were invited to the company’s office in Aichi Prefecture and received a fully-funded sponsorship for a two-month internship programme.
This opportunity reflects the growing confidence of Japanese companies in the quality, discipline, technical knowledge, and Japan-readiness of LNBTI students.
During the recent discussion, Prof. Ananda Kumara and the executives of Kawamura Electric Inc. had a fruitful exchange on future collaboration, student development, and career pathways in Japan. A particularly encouraging outcome of the discussion was the company’s positive intention to offer formal job placement opportunities to the interns after they successfully complete their degree programmes at LNBTI.
The discussion was joined by officials both physically and online, further strengthening the partnership between LNBTI and Kawamura Electric Inc. The meeting also led to plans for company officials to visit LNBTI next month, creating another valuable opportunity to deepen institutional cooperation and explore future pathways for students.
This partnership marks another important step in LNBTI’s mission to connect Sri Lankan IT talent with Japan’s professional and industrial needs. Through strong academic preparation, Japanese language training, workplace culture development, and direct industry engagement, LNBTI continues to open new doors for students who aspire to build successful careers in Japan.
LNBTI sincerely appreciates the trust and support extended by Kawamura Electric Inc. and looks forward to further strengthening this meaningful collaboration for the benefit of our students, industry partners, and the future of Japan–Sri Lanka professional cooperation.
