Meijo University Faculty and Students Organise Sri Lanka Relief Fundraiser in Partnership with LNBTI

Meijo University Faculty and Students Organise Sri Lanka Relief Fundraiser, Reflecting Strong Japan–Sri Lanka Academic Ties

A heartfelt fundraising initiative was organised by the Faculty of Human Studies at Meijo University, bringing together staff and students in a powerful act of compassion and solidarity to support Sri Lanka during a time of national challenge.

The event was further honoured by the presence of Professor Ananda Kumara, Vice Chancellor of Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI), underscoring the deep academic and cultural ties shared between Sri Lanka and Japan. The programme also received valuable support from the Taranga Friendship Group, an international non-profit organisation based in Japan known for fostering people-to-people connections across borders.

A Symbol of Compassion and Academic Solidarity

The fundraiser served as a meaningful platform where faculty members and students demonstrated empathy beyond the classroom, reflecting the shared human values that underpin international academic collaboration. The collective effort highlighted how universities can play an active role in global solidarity, especially during times of crisis.

A Testament to LNBTI’s Deep-Rooted Relationship with Japan

This initiative stands as a true testament to LNBTI’s long-standing relationship with Japan. As Sri Lanka’s first and only Japanese IT university, LNBTI has consistently strengthened academic, cultural, and professional ties with leading Japanese institutions, fostering mutual respect and collaboration.

The participation of LNBTI’s Vice Chancellor in this initiative further reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to nurturing strong partnerships built on trust, shared values, and enduring people-to-people connections. These relationships extend beyond formal agreements, translating into real-world collaboration, mutual support, and shared responsibility.

Strengthening Global Partnerships Through Education

Events such as this reflect LNBTI’s broader mission of promoting international engagement through education and cooperation. By aligning academic excellence with social responsibility, LNBTI continues to position itself as a bridge between Sri Lanka and Japan—creating opportunities for students, academics, and institutions to work together for a greater global good.
