Research and Development

LNBTI considers research and development to be a serious requirement in the organization. Hence, a separate division has been created as a postgraduate and research under the academic lead of LNBTI. A senior lecturer with doctoral qualifications was recruited recently to LNBTI, and she has been appointed as the secretary of the research committee. However, the research and development activities of LNBTI were started in 2018.

Research Collaboration with Japanese Universities

Research Collaborations with the University of Aizu (UOA) – Japan

  • LNBTI has signed an MOU with UOA for research collaborations, knowledge-sharing sessions, and cultural exposure. Accordingly, LNBTI students and academics gain opportunities to conduct research collaborations with UOA.
  • As a result of negotiations among both parties, LNBTI got an opportunity to be a partner of the International Conference on Educational Technology Language and Technical Communication (ETLTC2020), which was organized by the ACM chapter on e-learning and technical communication in Japan.
  • Professor Debopriyo Roy and Professor Keitaro Naruse visited LNBTI in 2018 and 2019 to improve the research collaborations between both institutes.
  • In 2020, two LNBTI Higher Diploma – Batch 01 students, Mr. Ravindu Sankha Wijayawardhana and Mr. Miyuru  Chanith  Kularathne, joined 3rd year of BSc in Computer Science degree programme of the University of Aizu- Japan.
  • Ms. Harshani Cooray, LNBTI Higher Diploma – Batch 03 student, has joined 3rd year of B. Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering degree programme of the University of Aizu- Japan in April 2022.
  • In 2023, two of LNBTI Higher Diploma – Batch 04 students, Mr. Thithira Wihtanarachchi and Ms. Kumudri Gunathilaka, joined 3rd year of the BSc in Computer Science degree programme of the University of Aizu- Japan.

Research Collaborations with Future University Hakodate – Japan

  • Ms. Kushini Hathurusinghe from LNBTI Higher Diploma – Batch 01, joined with 3rd year of Future University Hakodate in April 2020. She is conducting her research in the area of Artificial Intelligence.
  • Mr. Asith Ishantha and Mr. Dhanika Ponnamperuma from LNBTI Higher Diploma – Batch 02 joined with 3rd year of Future University Hakodate in April 2021. They have finished their undergraduate degree in Software Engineering with research.
  • Mr. Chamud Geesara from LNBTI Higher Diploma Batch 04 has joined the 3rd year of Future University Hakodate from April 2023.

Research Collaborations with Kyushu Institute of Technology – Japan

  • Professor Kazuaki Tanaka, who is an associate professor in Kyushu Institute of Technology, has conducted sessions on robotics annually for LNBTI students since 2017.
  • Professor Kazuaki Tanaka is working as the advisor of the robotics club of LNBTI.
  • The professor donated several robotics kits for the research lab.
  • LNBTI awarded 100% scholarships to nine students who performed well at LNBTI to visit Kyushu Institute of Technology – Japan and acquire research knowledge. This visit was funded by the Sakura Science Programme. They were able to get exposure to Japanese culture and university. Students were able to visit several universities and software companies. They got the chance to interact with Japanese university students. They had the opportunity to make innovative IOT systems in the IOT seminar and workshop with the guidance of the Japanese Lecturer, Dr. Tanaka Kazuyuki. They visited research labs and other infrastructure facilities.

Research collaboration with Ritsumeikan University – Japan

LNBTI Batch 02 students and staff members engaged with several research projects with Ritsumeikan University – Japan students and academics.
