Library facilities are provided to every student at LNBTI within the premises. There are many resources at the LNBTI library, including the latest books, journals, newspapers, and DVDs in English, Sinhala, and Japanese. The library provides individual and group spaces and a silent study area for those students wishing to study quietly.
The LNBTI library consists of both printed and electronic materials. Both staff and students prefer to access electronic library materials due to their convenience. Hence, LNBTI gives priority to acquiring electronic versions of required library materials. Any staff or student member who uses electronic materials from the library will have to sign a special agreement to safeguard the intellectual value of those materials. Simply, they are not allowed to share those materials with anyone and must be used only for personal reference. In the future, LNBTI will set up a digital library system to manage its electronic resources more productively while safeguarding intellectual property rights. Currently, it uses a course in the LMS to manage the electronic book collection in the library, known as “LNBTI e-Library” (https://lms.lnbti.lk/course/view.php?id=212). In the future, LNBTI will subscribe to online collections of technical and research materials depending on the requirements.
LNBTI policy is to acquire at least one printed copy of the reference books in the future. Currently, the library’s printed materials collection is over 500, including IT, Japanese Language, and Japanese Culture and Society.
