Prof. Ananda Kumara

He is a Sri Lankan researcher who has resided in Japan for more than 40 years and was the Founding Dean, Faculty of Foreign Studies at Meijo University in Japan. Completed a Master of Engineering Degree (M.Eng.) and Doctor of Engineering Degree (D.Eng.) at Tokyo Institute of Technology and later became a Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology. He was privileged to become the first foreigner & Sri Lankan to be awarded with the prestigious Japan international cooperation agency (JICA) president’s award, for the valuable contribution in Japan. Some of his past involvements include in Lever Brothers Ltd (Sri Lanka), Kelaniya University (Sri Lanka), United Nations Center for Regional Development (UNCRD) (United Nations Researcher), and Suzuka International University (Professor, Dean & Vice President) and Tokyo Institute of Technology (Professor), Director of the Office for New Faculty Development of Meijo University.
He also served as International Strategies Advisor for Aichi Prefecture, several Director General positions at the Mie International Exchange Foundation (MIEF), SIU Development and Culture Research Center (SIUDAC), SIU International Center, SIU COC Center, Mie Supporting Organization for JOCV (Founder), President of Sri Lanka Association of Central Japan (Founder) etc.
He is currently the President, Japan Association for Global Competence Education (JAGCE),
Vice President of Sri Lankan Academic Association of Japan (SLAcJ).
