LNBTI Students Gain International Experience through Internship Program in Japan
A select group of LNBTI students recently participated in a training program organized by JASA, with the top four performers awarded internships at leading IT companies in Japan. During a visit by the Vice Chancellor, the students shared their experiences and highlighted how their work ethic and professional behavior had been shaped by Japanese practices, including punctuality, responsibility, and attention to attire.
They were particularly impressed by Kyoto Station’s modern architecture and the affordability and quality of local food, such as the ramen, which they found both delicious and reasonably priced—challenging their initial perception of Japan as an expensive country.
The students also spoke highly of the supportive and collaborative environment at their internship companies, where they anticipate receiving full-time job offers upon completion of their degrees. Moving forward, LNBTI plans to make this training program an annual initiative, offering top-performing students similar opportunities to gain valuable international work experience. These students, as part of the new “Study in Sri Lanka, Work in Japan” model, represent the first cohort to benefit from this initiative, paving the way for future career prospects in the global IT industry.
