It is indeed a historic moment to witness a partnership between Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI) which is known to be the first & only Ministry of Education (MoE) & University Grant Commission (UGC) approved degree awarding Japanese higher education institute in Sri Lanka and Yoshida Shokanji International School which is built on Japanese cultural ethos. A memorandum of understanding was signed on 20th July 2022 at the Yoshida Shokanji International School Sapugaskanda premises at 9am between the above mentioned two entities which are built on strong Japanese foundation to develop students of YSIS with right skills set and knowledge to become successful IT professionals in Japan.

Yoshida Shokanji International School is located in a picturesque, landscaped area in Sapugaskanda, Makola. Most Venerable Banagala Upatissa Nayake Thero, Chief Sangha Nayake of Japan, the President of Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka and Chairman Yoshida Shokanji International School Sapugaskanda which commenced its operations in the year 2000. The school now has more than 1200 pupils from Nursery to Advanced Level, teaching both National Curriculum as well as Cambridge Curriculum. Yoshida strives to mold the students to be responsible future citizens, while sharpening their skills and competence to reach greater heights, with ability to solve problems being free thinking, problem solvers and decision makers and to be active participants in the affairs of the society and yet, at the same time to be tolerant and honest in all spheres of activity they embark upon.

Therefore, it is an excellent opportunity for students to make maximum use of this opening to graduate with a world recognized IT degree in Sri Lanka and join the lucrative Japanese IT industry upon successful graduation with a rewarding career. Furthermore, this will no doubt contribute to the development of both Japanese industries and Sri Lankan economy, while brightening students’ future. It is expected that not only a large amount of foreign currency flown out of the country for paying tuition and living expenses abroad for study can be saved within the country, but also this model will be able to bring ample amounts of foreign exchange through their remittance to the families and the loved ones after they go to Japan for work.

To grace this occasion, Most Venerable Banagala Upatissa Nayake Thero, Chief Sangha Nayake of Japan and the Chairman of Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka, Mrs. Ambapali Sikurajapathi (CEO), Mr. Hemakumara Gunasekara (Executive Director) Brig.
